Knaresborough Christmas Market
Knaresborough Christmas Market is a festive tradition with my husband and in-laws. For Knaresborough, this Edwardian-themed Christmas market is one of its more mundane annual events, and one that doesn’t end with the participants plunging into the River Nidd. The Bed Race (not actual four-posters, I was disappointed to discover) and Boxing Day Tug of War invariably result in the participants throwing themselves in the river, while the New Years’ Day duck race sends hundreds of yellow plastic ducks downstream.
Admittedly this year is going to be slightly different from our usual visit; a wander round the stalls before Gareth spots that Blind Jacks have mulled something alcoholic and we head over to try it out. Hannah’s Kitchen will have its very own stall, and me and my band of happy helpers (read: bribed family-members) will be selling a variety of delicious baked goods. On offer will be a selection of traditional and festive treats, as well as some Hannah’s Kitchen favourites (check out the gallery to get your mouth-watering).
From now until then we’ll be busy planning, practising, and preparing to make sure we have enough delicious bakes for the market crowds over the weekend. From Mince Pies to Millionaire’s Shortbread, from Christmas cake to Festive cookies and all sorts of delights in between, I’ve no doubt there will be something for everyone over the weekend. So if you’re in the area 5th - 6th December we’d love you to stop by! Just look out for the Hannah’s Kitchen chalkboard.
And if you happen to be in Blind Jacks and see a curly haired man wearing a Hannah’s Kitchen apron and nursing a pint of ale, tell him to sup up – break’s over!
